Weyl Semimetal

Structure of Weyl Semimetal small circles are impurities; big circles are metal atoms; yellow box is where the electrons move

Unique Non-Ohmic Superconductor

Have you ever thought about non-ohmic materials?

Previously, we have learned electronics and Ohm's law, which states that voltage is equal to the product of resistance and current. However, there are some materials that do not follow the law. One of the exceptions is Weyl semimetal.

Weyl metal acts as a superconductor in 25ºC. In order to make metal as a superconductor, the temperature should reach to 0K, -273.15ºC. When the metal is at 0K, fermions, small particles, creates a fake arc and carry electrons. However, Weyl semimetal has the same arc not necessarily at 0K. Fermions, as a result, carry electrons to where has no impurities. Because of the absence of impurities, the resistance of the metal becomes 0, causing 100% efficiency.
